Gabriella Presnal (b. 2001) is a Finnish American visual artist. They are currently in their second year studying fine arts in the Media and Arts bachelor’s program at Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK).
Presnal’s interest in art began in elementary school while living in Sweden after moving from New York.
Their works surround themes inspired by life experiences, identity, global politics, and their ongoing studies. Their current interests within their art are cultural nostalgia, community, memory, and hauntology. They work with many mediums like paints, sculptures, collage, video, mixed media, and installation pieces. They also incorporate many reused materials like dried paint, dirt, recycled plastics & paper, and much more to create textures in their pieces.
After moving to Finland from Canada in 2017 they have been in multiple exhibitions so far, the first was a solo exhibition called Genuine Expression in June 2019 on Aleksanterinkatu in Helsinki. They have also been in various virtual exhibitions for Kulttuuri – Toimitus (2020) & Stay Creative Stay Alive (2020) and several TAMK related online exhibitions. As well as various festivals like the ARS108 (2021) in Nokia, Skanssi Lux Festival (2020) in Turku, and pop-up community projects at sites like the Helsinki Central Library Oodi and multiple other local small exhibitions in 2021.
