90 – 120 minutes, seminar for students.

45 – 60 minutes lecture introduction of the topic, overview of lead ideas in Slovak cinema based on historical circumstances, followed by approx. 30 – 45 minutes discussion.

In small groups, students will compare and discuss how similar ideas and beliefs are portrayed in Finnish cinema (or other media – visual arts, art installations with the use of digital media, NFTs, or other forms they have seen or experienced, also in connection with their majors and areas of study or projects they have been working on).

Belief in Magic, in Power, in Honest Work, in Oneself, in the Earth, in Freedom…

The class would fit mostly students of Media and Arts degree programme. Students not working with film may also benefit from participating in a seminar considering ideas from a field other than their major.
