Gabriella Presnal is a Finnish-American mixed-media artist. Their works surround themes inspired by life experiences, identity, global politics, culture, and human rights. Many pieces involve how people experience their minds and bodies and how society can be reflected within those personal experiences. Presnal also love creating portraits and reusing materials, like dried paint to create collages or texture in installations. They work mostly with paints, but have also worked in other mediums like sculptures, collage, video, and installation pieces.
Presnal’s interest in art began in elementary school while living in Sweden after moving from the United States. After moving to Finland from Canada in 2017 they have been in multiple exhibitions: Genuine Expression in June 2019 on Aleksanterinkatu in Helsinki, virtual exhibitions for Kulttuuri – Toimitus (2020) & Stay Creative Stay Alive (2020), and Harmony in October 2020 for the Skanssi Lux Festival in Turku. They will be exhibiting later this year in at least one other exhibition in Tampere. They are currently studying Fine Arts at Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
